Abstract

This research is to find out the significant difference before and after using the abacus media in increasing student achievement, and to find out whether there is an increase in student achievement through the use of the abacus media. The population in this study were all students of SD Sinar Baliem Wamena as many as 115 students. . Through a purposive sampling technique, the sample was determined to be 20 students in class II. Data collection through pre-test and post-test was then analyzed using a non-parametric test, namely the Wilcoxon test after it was known that the data were not normally distributed and were not homogeneous. The results of the study show that: 1) there is a difference between the results of learning mathematics in the one-digit multiplication sub-discussion for the pre-test and post-test. This can be seen from the value of 0.000 which is less than <0.05. Thus it can be said that the use of the abacus media can affect mathematics learning achievement in the sub-discussion of one-digit multiplication in class II SD Sinar Baliem Wamena. 2) there is an increase in the learning outcomes of the mathematics sub-discussion of one-digit multiplication in class II students at SD Sinar Baliem Wamena after being given learning using the Abacus media. The increase in student achievement was 10.50 and there were 20 positive data (N), which means that the 20 students experienced an increase in mathematics learning outcomes in the sub-discussion of one digit multiplication from the pretest results.
