PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN BAHASA INGGRIS BAGI PEMUDA/I TINGKAT SMP DI GEREJA GKI LACHAI ROI, WAMENA

Abstract

The Community Service Program (PkM) to improve English language skills at GKI Lachai Roi Wamena was conducted over three months, starting on March 10, 2024, with 1.5-hour weekly sessions. This program aimed to help the church’s youth master basic communication in English. After the initial pre-test showed that 47% of participants were in the “Low” category, interactive learning methods, such as group discussions and role-playing, were implemented. The post-test results showed a significant improvement, with 87% of participants achieving the “Good” category. This improvement indicates the success of the methods applied in building participants’ confidence. Additionally, participants expressed satisfaction with the program and hoped for its continuation with a longer duration for deeper mastery of the material.
