Abstract

ABSTRACT

Education serves a dual purpose: it develops intellectual abilities while also shaping individuals with strong moral character and good personal qualities. One educational model considered ideal for implementing character education is the boarding school system, as it provides a structured, disciplined, and closely supervised environment. The aim of this study is to describe the role of dormitory supervisors in character development among students at STKIP Kristen Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province. Mixed methods is used. The study sample consists of all dormitory residents from the second through the eighth semesters, totaling 59 students, with a questionnaire used for get dat. The research indicates that dormitory supervisors have actively fulfilled their roles in four key areas: religious and moral guidance (69% of respondents rated this as active to very active), fair and consistent disciplinary supervision (41% agreed), the enforcement of corrective measures and educational sanctions (42% strongly agreed), and the wise resolution of conflicts based on Christian values (36% strongly agreed). However, respondents raised a number of critical points, including the fact that individual coaching is still not optimal, activities tend to be routine in nature, and the consistency of rule enforcement needs to be improved. Therefore, the role of dormitory supervisor needs to be continuously strengthened through a more personalized, targeted, and consistent approach in order to foster effective and sustainable character development among students based on Christian values.
