Abstract

The formation of student spirituality is an important aspect of Christian higher education because students are expected not only to develop academically but also spiritually and morally. In today’s era, students face various challenges such as social media influence, academic pressure, family problems, and social environments that may affect their spiritual lives. Therefore, prayer and sharing activities within academic mentoring become one of the important means of spiritual guidance that helps students grow in faith and Christian character. This study aims to determine how prayer and sharing activities within academic mentoring shape the spirituality of students at STKIP Kristen Wamena and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the process. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach through observation, interviews, and documentation involving academic mentors and students. The results indicate that prayer and sharing activities help students experience spiritual growth, improve spiritual discipline, develop Christian character, strengthen fellowship among students, and help them face academic and personal challenges. Supporting factors include mentor support, an open fellowship atmosphere, and active student participation. Obstacles identified include academic busyness, low motivation among some students, feelings of embarrassment during sharing sessions, and inconsistency in attending activities. Overall, prayer and sharing activities within academic mentoring play an important role in shaping student spirituality when implemented regularly, systematically, and continuously.
